Allow the mixture to slake (stand undisturbed) for 5-10 minutes, then remix briefly before use. Do not add more water after slaking.

Apply the mixed mortar to the substrate using the flat side of a trowel to key in a thin coat. Then, immediately apply additional mortar with the notched side of the trowel, holding the trowel at a 45-degree angle to the surface. Use the appropriate notch size for the tile being installed to achieve proper mortar coverage (typically 80% for dry areas and 95% for wet areas or exterior applications).
